2023: Acevedo is currently on loan at Brazilian side Esporte Clube Bahia through December 31, 2023.
2022: Having signed a contract extension until 2025 with the option to extend to 2026, Acevedo cemented his place in the heart of the NYCFC midfield in 2022 with 34 MLS appearances, starting 30, and tallying the fifth-highest minutes of regular season action with 2,276. He played every minute of our playoff campaign, as Nick Cushing’s side reached the Eastern Conference Final and helped the team to Campeones Cup glory.
2021: Acevedo managed 15 starts and racked up 1350 minutes in the regular season. He suffered an unfortunate injury in mid-October that kept him out for a number of weeks. He returned to the bench for the playoff semi-final and MLS Cup, where the team emerged winners on penalty kicks.
2020: The club acquired Nicolás Acevedo from Uruguayan side Liverpool FC in March. He went on to make 12 appearances for the club during the MLS regular season, starting one game.
2019: Nicolás Acevedo was awarded the "Joven Talento del 2019" by the Uruguayan Football Association which honors the best U-21 player in the country's domestic league. The 20-year-old played 31 games as Liverpool finished 5th in the aggregate table last season. He helped Liverpool qualify for the CONMEBOL Copa Sudamericana twice and also scored a penalty in the shootout as his club lifted the “Torneo Intermedio” for the first time in 2019.
2018: Acevedo came through Liverpool’s academy in his native Montevideo and debuted for his boyhood club in 2018. He became captain in 2019 at 20 years old.
His performances earned him a call-up to the Uruguayan U-20 national team where he helped lead his country to the Round of 16 in 2019’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland. Acevedo also featured extensively with the U-23s as they finished third in the CONMEBOL Olympic qualifiers behind Argentina and Brazil earlier this year.
