Tchani moved from New York to Toronto before winding up in Columbus. It wasn't until the arrival of Gregg Berhalter though, that the midfielder began to realize his potential. Tchani's technical quality has steadily improved and he found his form again in 2017 with Carl Robinson after a down year in 2016. He will look to continue that form with the Fire in 2018.
INTERNATIONAL: Tchani was born in Cameroon and was called up to the Cameroon national team in November 2015. He did not appear for the team after suffering an injury. He was called up to the US national team for the first time in January 2016.
COLLEGE: Tchani helped the University of Virgina win the NCAA Tournament in 2009. He spent two seasons in Virginia, recording eight goals and four assists in 2009 and was a First Team All-America selection by the NSCAA and College Soccer News. The midfielder earned spots on the ACC All-Tournament Team, NCAA College Cup All-Tournament Team and All-ACC Second Team.
