Atlanta's Miles Robinson is "week-to-week" with hamstring injury heading into playoffs

Darren Eales - Atlanta United president

Atlanta United defender Miles Robinson is "week-to-week" with a left hamstring injury, the club announced Tuesday.

The 2019 MLS Defender of the Year finalist picked up the injury while training with the USMNT last week. The update puts in question his availability for Atlanta's Round One Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs matchup against the New England Revolution on Saturday (1 pm ET | Univision, TUDN in US; TVAS, TSN in Canada).

Robinson, 22, appeared in all 34 games (33 starts) for Atlanta in the regular season while earning his first US men's national team cap in September in a breakout season. His ability to defend in space and break up counterattacks has been integral to Atlanta's shift to a more aggressive style of play during the summer. On Monday he was named a finalist for MLS Defender of the Year.

ATLUTD president Darren Eales addressed Robinson's situation in a radio appearance Tuesday evening, expressing his frustration in no uncertain terms.

Should Atlanta advance over the Revs, their next match would be Thursday, Oct. 24.
