The Colorado Rapids announced on Tuesday that captain Drew Moor will miss the remainder of the season after an MRI scan on Monday revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and lateral meniscus in his right knee.
Moor was stretchered off during the early stages of the Rapids’ 4-2 loss at D.C. United on Sunday night after awkwardly during the play that led to the home side’s opening goal on 12 minutes.
The veteran center back joins fellow central defender Shane O’Neill on the sidelines. O’Neill received platelet-rich plasma injections on Monday to help facilitate healing of a troublesome sprained right knee, the club said on Tuesday.
“It's hard to remember exactly what happened,” Moor told ColoradoRapids.com about the play that led to his injury. “I just remember running full speed one way, and cutting really hard when [Luis] Silva cut in.

“My right leg was planted pretty hard and when I opened up to reach back for the ball, my right leg didn't move and all the weight just went into my knee. It was almost as if, for a split second, I could feel my knee turn into jelly.”
The Rapids host the LA Galaxy on Wednesday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park (9 pm ET, MLS Live).
