Fighting through constant downpours and a persistent FC Cincinnati side, the Philadelphia Union left Nippert Stadium on Saturday night with a 2-0 win in a meeting between two Eastern Conference foes.
Neither team found much success in rain-soaked conditions in the first half, only for Marco Fabian to give the Union a breakthrough in the 47th minute. He collected a centering pass from David Accam, and slammed a left-footed shot past Spencer Richey.
Accam then doubled the lead in the 58th minute, dribbling past both Cincinnati center backs inside the 18-yard box before toe-poking home to make it 2-0.
Meanwhile, the Orange and Blue struggled to get any offense going, only forcing Andre Blake into one save throughout the 90 minutes. Their biggest chance came via Roland Lamah in the 51st minute.
