Though efforts to bring Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez stateside to MLS haven't been successful yet, the Mexican striker thinks the league is on the right track.
"I think in the future, it's going to be one of the best leagues in the world, definitely," he told Bayer Leverkusen's website. "The country, the people, the culture, the sports, they have everything to achieve that."

Orlando City SC targeted Chicharito last year and were in serious negotiations, but ultimately the two sides were unable to come to terms, according to club president Phil Rawlins. Instead, the El Tri striker signed with Bayer in the top German Bundesliga, where he has 17 goals in 27 appearances this season. He has also scored nine more goals across the Champions League and the German cup.
Asked about his potential to lead the way for Mexico at the
Copa America Centenario
and reach the record of four goals scored in the tournament, 27-year-old Chicharito said he wasn't worried about it.
"I never thought about it. I started thinking about it when I started scoring a lot of goals – when I got 26 goals, the people start speaking about that," he said. "It looks so far to me, four goals is far away. I've never been obsessed to break that. If I break it, it's going to be fine. If not, it's going to be fine for me."
