NEW FC CINCINNATI BENCH BOSS TO BE YOUNGEST IN CHARGE IN MLS HISTORY
When Yoann Damet takes the reins of FC Cincinnati this weekend, he will be the youngest head coach in MLS history. Damet will be aged 29 years, 53 days when FCC take on the Montréal Impact on Saturday afternoon at Nippert Stadium.
The previous youngest, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, was Roy Wegerle, who led the Colorado Rapids on an interim basis as a player/manager for the final game of the inaugural MLS season in 1996. When Wegerle took command – only for a 3-1 loss to D.C. United at RFK Stadium – he was 32 years, 186 days old; he still continued his playing career for two more seasons with the Rapids, D.C. United and Tampa Bay Mutiny.
The youngest to be named as a head coach full-time in MLS is current D.C. United boss Ben Olsen. He coached his first league match on an interim basis on Aug. 7, 2010, at age 33 years, 96 days. Olsen was then named head coach on a permanent basis on Nov. 29 of that year.

TIMBERS’ DIEGO VALERI GAINS RARE MEMBERSHIP IN 70-70 CLUB
Diego Valeri of the Portland Timbers moved even higher into rarefied air in MLS history last week, netting his second goal of the season in his club’s 2-1 win against Real Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium.
Along with his six assists for the season, Valeri now has 70 goals and 71 assists in his seven-year MLS career – the ninth player in league history to reach that plateau. Just two players have scored as many as 80 goals and 80 assists – the only two players to reach the century mark in both goals and assists: Landon Donovan (145 goals, 136 assists) and Jaime Moreno (133 goals, 102 assists).

KEI KAMARA MOVING UP ALL-TIME ROLL OF MULTI-GOAL SCORERS
With his two-goal game last weekend – both converted penalty kicks – Kei Kamara of the Colorado Rapids solidified his hold on seventh place for most multiple-goal games in MLS history.
It was the first multiple-goal game of the season for Kamara, who now has 119 goals for his MLS league career, fifth-most all-time. Fourth place on the all-time goalscoring leaderboard is held by Jaime Moreno, with 133 career league goals.

FC CINCINNATI DROUGHT REACHES HISTORIC PROPORTIONS
FC Cincinnati have also moved into additional historical territory, following a fifth shutout in a row in their 1-0 defeat by the San Jose Earthquakes at Avaya Stadium last weekend.
FCC has now not scored a goal in its past 521 minutes of play heading into this weekend’s match vs. Montréal, the seventh-longest scoreless streak in MLS history. It’s the third-longest goalless streak by an expansion team in MLS history; the all-time record of 824 consecutive minutes without a goal was set by Toronto FC in their inaugural MLS campaign of 2007.
LONGEST SCORELESS STREAK (LEAGUE PLAY ONLY)

UNION MAKE HISTORY WITH BENCH PRODUCTION
For just the second time in MLS history, a team’s three substitutes all came off the bench to score goals when the Philadelphia Union did it last weekend in their 6-1 win against the New England Revolution.
First-half substitute Ilsinho started it off with a goal shortly after the second-half restart, then Sergio Santos and David Accam each scored within five minutes of coming onto the field, Santos also adding a second goal along the way.
The first occasion came on May 21, 2016, when substitutes Alex Muyl, Gonzalo Veron and Gideon Baah all scored for the New York Red Bulls in their 7-0 victory against cross-river rivals New York City FC at Yankee Stadium.

• Toronto FC rebounded for a 2-0 win against Orlando City SC at Orlando City Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Jonathan Osorio scored for a second consecutive game, now with two goals and an assist over his past three appearances.
  
• Toronto FC won the final meeting between the teams last season, a 4-1 win at BMO Field on Decision Day (Oct. 28), the first win by either team in the all-time series.
  
• The teams reached 2-2 draws in each of their first three meetings. Two of those came at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, including last Aug. 4 in the other meeting between the teams.

Ezequiel Barco
scored his fourth goal of the season in his eighth appearance, matching his goal total from last year, his first in MLS (in 26 appearances). … Barco also added an assist, his first of the season, the first time in MLS he’s had a goal and an assist in the same game. …
Brad Guzan
was credited with three saves in recording a second consecutive shutout. Guzan has recorded three shutouts in the last four games, the club’s shutout streak now at 186 minutes.

Alejandro Pozuelo
recorded his sixth assist of the season, tied for the MLS league lead (with Nicolas Lodeiro, SEA; Diego Valeri, POR). Pozuelo has a goal and/or an assist in five of his six appearances this season, with four goals, having played a part in 10 of TFC’s 15 goals while he’s been in the team. …

• The Galaxy won the lone meeting between the teams last year, a 4-0 victory July 7 in Carson, Calif. The win extended the Galaxy’s home undefeated streak in the series to seven games, dating back to 2007, with five wins and two draws in that time.
  
• The Galaxy have not won in Columbus since 2011, though the teams have played to draws in two of the last four meetings there. Crew SC won the last meeting at Mapfre Stadium, a 3-0 win on Aug. 23, 2017.

The win was the first ever for the Impact at Red Bull Arena in league play; they were 0-9-0 there in their history in the regular season before the win.
• The game will be the first in charge for Yoann Damet, named as interim head coach following the dismissal of Alan Koch. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Damet will be the youngest head coach in MLS history, at age 29 years, 53 days on matchday.
• The teams are meeting for the first time in their histories, the first of two meetings this season. Their return match is set for Sept. 14 at Stade Saputo.

FCC: FC Cincinnati’s seven-game winless streak is tied for the eighth-longest by an expansion team in the first season of play.

IMPACT:Maximiliano Urruti scored his first goal with the Impact, converting a penalty kick, his first goal since Decision Day (Oct. 28) of last year, while with FC Dallas. … Urruti also collected his fourth assist of the season, his last coming April 13; it was the seventh time in his MLS career he had at least one goal and one assist in the same game. … Zakaria Diallo scored his first goal in MLS, making his 11th appearance of the season. … Omar Browne recorded his first career assist in MLS, making his third appearance (his first start); he scored on his league and Impact debut, April 28.

• The Red Bulls have a six-game undefeated streak in the series, the last FC Dallas victory coming March 11, 2012. The Red Bulls have won four of the six encounters since, with two draws, including a 3-0 win last June 23 at Red Bull Arena.
• FC Dallas has not scored a goal in five of the last six meetings between the teams. Their first goal scored in the 2-2 draw on Sept. 2, 2017, the last meeting at Toyota Stadium, ended a 443-minute goalless drought vs. the Red Bulls.
• The Red Bulls have won on three of their past six visits to Frisco, Texas, with two draws, in both league and MLS Cup play. FC Dallas haven’t won at the Red Bulls since 2006, when they took a 2-1 victory at Giants Stadium. FCD has never won at Red Bull Arena (0-3-2).

• Toronto FC alternated wins and losses for a fifth consecutive match, suffering a 2-0 loss to Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Wednesday. It was the club’s first loss ever to Atlanta, in five meetings all-time.
• The teams are playing for the second time this season. Michael Bradley netted the first two-goal game in his MLS career, as Toronto FC got off to the best start possible with a 3-1 win on March 2 at Talen Energy Stadium in the season opener for both clubs.
• Toronto FC now have a four-game winning streak alive in the series. The Union’s goal in the first meeting ended a 360-minute goalless streak vs. Toronto FC.
• TFC’s undefeated streak in the series is even longer – now five years long. The last Union victory vs. Toronto FC came on Sept. 6, 2014, a 2-0 win at BMO Field. TFC has won eight of the 10 matches since, with two draws.

TFC: Toronto FC were shut out at the attacking end for the first time in the 2019 season.
