Report: Former LA Galaxy midfielder Juninho looking for MLS return

Juninho returns to LA with Tijuana 2

Could former MLS Cup winner Juninho be on his way back into the league?

That's the report circulating on Monday, as Goal.com's Ives Galarcep tweeted the 27-year-old was looking to return to MLS from his current stop with Liga MX side Club Tijuana.

The Brazilian central midfielder played for the LA Galaxy 2010-15, winning three MLS Cups and two Supporters' Shields with the club. He scored 18 goals and added 23 assists in 187 MLS regular season appearances, and was generally recognized as one of the best players at his position in his time in the league.

Sold by the Galaxy to Tijuana in December 2015, Juninho struggled to find regular playing time for Xolos, especially in the most recent 2016 Apertura season.

Because LA transferred Juninho and received a fee, they no longer hold his MLS player rights. As a result, if he were to return to MLS he would go through the MLS Allocation Order.
