AT&T Goal of the Week: Week 18
Goals were flying fast and furious in MLS this weekend, and fans can now choose between five of the best strikes for the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week.
MLS games averaged 3.4 goals per game this weekend, including some high-scoring thrillers early Saturday night, so enjoy the feast and take your pick.
The New York Red Bulls' Bradley Wright-Phillips struck for goal No. 15 against Columbus, finishing off a brilliant team move that included one of Thierry Henry's three assists on the night. Henry is also nominated for his alert, one-time finish (his I'm-so-mad-I'm-not-going-to-celebrate reaction probably didn't hurt, either).
Another Designated Player, Toronto FC's Jermain Defoe, is nominated for his burst of speed and cool finish (MLS goal No. 10 on the year) as TFC rallied from a two-goal deficit to drop four goals on the hapless Houston Dynamo defense. Colorado Rapids striker Deshorn Brown used a sensational turn and left-footed finish late in the game to pull out a tie for his club on the road against Philadelphia. Finally, LA Galaxy Homegrown Player Gyasi Zardes beat the league's top goalkeeper, Real Salt Lake's Nick Rimando, from outside the penalty area thanks in part to a Landon Donovan dummy.
Which was the best? Which was your favorite? Make your pick by casting a ballot for your favorite goal before voting ends! The winner is determined by the total number of votes cast online and will be announced on Friday.
Voting runs until 11:59 pm PT on Thursdays. For complete coverage of the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week — including an archive of all of this season's nominees and winners — click here.
