A slew of great saves were made around MLS this weekend – now it’s your turn to pick the best of the bunch.
Five worthy goalkeepers are nominated for the Week 30 Save of the Week honors, with Real Salt Lake’s Nick Rimando, New York City FC’s Josh Saunders, Chicago Fire’s Jon Busch, Houston Dynamo’s Tyler Deric and Montreal Impact’s Evan Bush in the running for the award.
Saunders and Busch are each nominated for incredible kick saves, with Busch in the running for his insane stop on a point-blank effort from Sebastian Giovinco in Chicago’s loss at Toronto and Saunders up for his unreal reaction stop on Robert Earnshaw in New York’s dramatic 2-1 win at Vancouver.
Like Saunders, both Deric and Bush made big, late stops to preserve all three points for their teams. Deric came up with a diving save on a Vicente Sanchez free kick in the 78th minute of Houston’s 3-2 win over Colorado while Bush somehow reached Jeff Larentowicz’s header in stoppage time of the Impact’s 2-1 midweek victory against Chicago.
Rimando rounds out the field, with the veteran ‘keeper nominated after racing across the face of goal and laying out to deny what looked like a sure goal for Chris Wondolowski in the second half of RSL’s 1-0 loss at San Jose on Sunday.
