Michael Bradley will miss his first MLS match in over a year on Sunday, as the veteran central midfielder was left out of Toronto FC's gameday squad for a visit from the San Jose Earthquakes due to a sore hamstring.
It marks the first minute of league action Bradley has missed since April of 2018, when he was rested in MLS play due to TFC's Concacaf Champions League run. The Reds also had to face the Quakes without another key midfield presence, as Canadian international Jonathan Osorio was left out due to hip and groin issues.
Both absences could have ramifications for this summer's Gold Cup, with Bradley and Osorio in the frame to contribute to the United States' and Canada's campaigns in that tournament, respectively. The CanMNT kick off vs. Martinique on June 15 in Pasadena, California, while the USMNT open vs. Guyana in Minnesota on June 18.
The good news for both TFC and the USMNT? Star striker Jozy Altidore returned to the XI, making his first start since a hamstring strain sidelined him last month.
