Colorado Rapids' Marco Pappa to miss 2-4 weeks due to MCL sprain

Marco Pappa - Colorado Rapids - March 12, 2016

One of the main architects behind the Colorado Rapids’ surprising start will be out for up to a month, as the club announced on Monday that midfielder Marco Pappa will be sidelined 2-4 weeks with a left MCL sprain.

Pappa started but came off in the 73rd minute of Colorado’s 2-1 home win against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday. The injury will not require surgery, and he will begin rehab immediately. The Guatemalan international has one goal and three assists in seven appearances this year.

The Rapids also announced that Designated Player Kevin Doyle is nearing a full recovery from the lower leg laceration he suffered while playing for Ireland against Switzerland on March 25. Doyle hasn’t played in any of the Rapids' last four games, but is expected to return to full training this week.
