U.S. Soccer announced on Tuesday that Houston Dynamo midfielder Brad Davis has been ruled out of the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup due to a knee injury, and that the federation is filing the necessary paperwork to CONCACAF to allow for a replacement.
Mexico-based defender Greg Garza has been called into the US national team's current camp and will be included on the roster for the friendly against Guatemala on Friday in Nashville (6:30 pm ET, FOX Sports 1, UniMás, Univision Deportes).
Per Gold Cup rules, a team may replace an injured player on the roster up to 24 hours prior to its first match due to injury, pending CONCACAF approval. The player must come from the 35-man preliminary roster, which was due on June 5.
The USMNT are training in Nashville ahead of Friday's match, their final tune-up before the start of the Gold Cup.
