Hamburg winger Julian Green has left the US national team's camp in Massachusetts, having been sent back to his club due to a rib injury he suffered on Sept. 22.

USMNT head coach Jurgen Klinsmann revealed the news in a tweet posted on Thursday morning as his team prepares to meet Ecuador in East Hartford, Connecticut on Friday night (7 pm ET, ESPN, UniMas) before decamping to South Florida to face Honduras on Tuesday at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton.

Green, on loan from Bayern Munich, made two appearances for Hamburg before suffering the injury during a practice session. He has missed the club's last three games.

The 19-year-old made his first appearance for the US back in April after switching allegiances from Germany to the US in March. He was a head-turning inclusion in Klinsmann's World Cup squad due to his lack of first-team experience, but scored a goal against Belgium in his only appearance in the tournament.

Green was expected to see ample playing time in both friendlies for the USMNT this week after he played all 90 minutes against the Czech Republic in September.
