Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris undergoes surgery for torn ACL

Jordan Morris - Seattle Sounders - Western Confernce Championship

The Seattle Sounders announced on Friday that forward Jordan Morris underwent successful right knee surgery on Wednesday.

Morris, who tore his ACL during the Sounders' Concacaf Champions League game against Santa Tecla in El Salvador on February 22, had the procedure done by Dr. Bert Mandelbaum in Santa Monica, Calif. Morris will begin rehabilitation immediately.

The team did not offer a new timetable for Morris' return following the surgery, but when the torn ACL was first diagnosed following the game, general manager Garth Lagerwey said the team would rule him out for the entire campaign.

“We are going to rule him out for the season," Lagerwey said last month. "He’ll have surgery probably in a couple of weeks once the swelling goes down and he can build up the strength of the muscles around it. But we want to approach this as what’s best for Jordan’s career long-term. We think he’s a Sounder for the long-term. He’s in the organization’s long-term plans.”
