Sebastian Giovinco was not on Toronto FC's 18-man roster for Sunday's game at the New York Red Bulls because of "tightness" in a leg injury, according to a team spokesperson.
Giovinco's absence comes three days after he exited TFC's Campeones Cup loss to Tigres UANL after only 40 minutes. At the time, ESPN's broadcast reported that Giovinco had come off the pitch with calf cramps.
The 2015 Landon Donovan MLS MVP recipient has 11 goals and 14 assists so far in his fourth season with Toronto, leading the Reds in both categories.
Toronto enters the match nine points below the playoff line with six matches remaining.
